FAQs

I hope this answers any questions top of mind, however if I've missed anything, just drop me a line!

THE PROCESS?

Working with me is super simple.

We start with a quick, no-obligation chat so we can meet and suss each other out.

If you’re in and think we're a good match, you lock in your date with a 30 per cent deposit. From here, you'll be sent a questionnaire to complete, that includes all the details I need on my end to get cracking on the legal forms required. You'll also get access to my resources regarding ceremony styles, vow writing and more.

A few months out, we'll catch up properly (coffee, vino, martinis... whatever feels right) and knock over the legal bits while we chat through what you want your ceremony to look, feel and sound like.

From here, you'll each be sent a questionnaire to complete individually, that helps me get under the skin of who you two are, as well as a feel for the kind of ceremony you're after.

Approximately two weeks before the big day, we jump on one last call to tighten the logistics and finalise your ceremony. You can read it beforehand or walk in blind and let it hit you in the moment  - totally your call.

On the day, I rock up early, sort the tech, chat with your vendors, calm nervous energy, and make sure the front row doesn’t cause chaos!  I handle all legal forms (and lodge everything within two days). I then send you the info you need for your official certificate and any name-change related admin.

And yes, I always stick around for a little while afterwards - both literally and metaphorically. I love a post-ceremony happy snap. Most of my couples become friends and we keep in touch, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

TIMING?

So we can get the most out of the process together, I'd recommend getting in touch at least 6 months out from your wedding. This gives us enough time to really get to know each other and work together on your special day. This being said, my door is always open to any shorter timelines - I'll do my best to make it work!

BOOKING?

Once we've had our initial chat, and if I am available on your wedding date, you'll recieve a link to my terms and conditions, and to pay a 30 per cent deposit.  After that, your date is locked in, and we can get cracking on your dream day.

FEES?

Pricing is listed as 'from' online because each ceremony is personalised. Each quote is tailored to you, and your specific needs, which means you’ll get a price that reflects the level of service you want. My work is crafted for each couple, and I only take on a limited number of weddings - so you know you've got my full attention.

Travel?

Travel is included within 25km of Coburg, Victoria where I am located. Beyond this point, see the listed rates on my Offerings page.

MC?

Sure do! If you'd like me to stick around for the remainder of the day and MC your wedding, please drop me a line (the sooner the better) and we can work together to make sure everything goes off without a hitch!

PA System?

My preference is always to use your venue's PA system (don't worry - I always arrive in plenty of time to sound check). However, if your venue doesn't have one, I have my own I can bring, set up, sound check and utilise!

WRITER'S BLOCK?

Totally feel you. It's hard to put all your feelings about the love of your life on a single page. I provide all my couples with a vow-writing how-to guide, and am also always here to hand hold, proof read or creative consult on your vows. I'll also print and bring them along on the day!

HOW LONG?

Most ceremonies sit somewhere between 20 - 30 minutes. As a rough guide a standard ceremony with personal vows will run for 20 - 30 minutes. Ceremonies including readings, cultural elements or additional elements will run for 30 - 45 minutes

My philosophy is simple. We want it to be long enough to feel meaningful, short enough that nobody's checking their watch.

can we write the ceremony together?

Absolutely.

Some couples want to be involved in every detail, while others would rather hand things over and trust me to take care of it. Most land somewhere in the middle.

We'll find the approach that feels right for you.

what if it rains?

Welcome to Melbourne!

If you're getting married outdoors, it's important to have a wet weather contingency  organised. Always happy to assist with this.

The good news is that some of the most beautiful wedding photos I've ever seen happened on rainy days.

flexible?

One of my favourite parts of this job is helping couples create a ceremony that feels like them. There are very few rules and plenty of possibilities.

I've seen couples:

  • walk down the aisle together

  • include their children in the ceremony

  • honour loved ones who can't be there

  • incorporate cultural traditions

  • share a drink together

  • surprise their witnesses with a random envelope under a chair

  • exchange private vows

  • conduct a toast during the ceremony

  • have their dog deliver the rings

  • completely rewrite the traditional format

If it's meaningful to you, sounds like fun or you just want to float an idea, chances are we can make it work.

Music?

If you aren't having live music, I can provide a speaker for your ceremony and am happy to help connect a phone or iPad before the ceremony begins. Please note that you'll need to nominate a trusted friend or family member to be responsible for playing and pausing the music at the appropriate times (for example, the processional, signing, and recessional). While I can start any pre-ceremony background music, I won't be able to operate the music during the ceremony itself, as I'll be focused on greeting guests, coordinating with suppliers, and of course, conducting the ceremony.

Wedding cert?

I lodge all required paperwork with Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) within two days of your ceremony, to legally register your marriage. I can also apply for your official legal marriage certificate on your behalf, which I generally recommend as it avoids the need for you to have ID documents certified later. The cost is $67.90 (BDM's fee, passed on at cost). Once your marriage is registered, BDM will post the certificate directly to your home address.
